Ian McFarland is a filmmaker with a focus on documentary and portrait work. Ian started his career touring the world at an early age, performing at a wide range of venues: from punk rock parties in backyards and living rooms to major European Open Air Festivals as the bassist of the hardcore punk rock band, Blood For Blood. Over the past 20 years, he has directed numerous music videos for Grammy-nominated international acts and created award-winning films aired on networks like SHOWTIME, NBC, VICE, SKY, ESPN, MTV, LOGO, and more. The Godfathers of Hardcore is a portrait film the follows the two of the most respected men in underground music, Roger Miret and Vinnie Stigma of the band Agnostic Front.
The hardcore punk band Agnostic Front formed in 1981 and soon became synonymous with the New York punk scene. At its core were Vinnie Stigma and Roger Miret. Over 35 years later, the legendary guitarist, born and raised on Mott Street, and his Cuban-born vocalist bandmate are still going strong. Interweaving remarkable archival footage of the early days of Agnostic Front with present-day interviews and performances, Godfathers of Hardcore captures the duo’s unmistakable personalities and their influential band’s enduring legacy.
